Jason Butterfield
I’m a data integration and system automation specialist Based in Ontario, Canada. I live with my wife, our three sons, each off on their own exciting journeys, and our two dogs, who join me on my regular hiking trips.
When I’m not deep in the world of data integration and systems automation, I’m exploring the imaginative landscapes of steampunk, alternative history, and science fiction. By day, I lead teams that build and maintain the systems that keep information flowing smoothly in the financial world. By night, I’m a storyteller, drawn to worlds where steam engines power empires, timelines diverge into unexpected histories, and distant stars beckon with untold possibilities.
My lifelong curiosity about science and technology, from space exploration and physics to the elegant mechanics of automation, informs both my professional work and my creative pursuits. I’m fascinated by how systems function, how decisions ripple outward, and how people adapt when the world shifts under their feet.
Outside of work and writing, I spend time hiking through Ontario’s forests with my wife and our two loyal dogs, or catching up in lively conversations with our three sons whenever they’re home. As a secular humanist and advocate for scientific literacy, I believe in critical thinking, honest dialogue, and the power of stories to help us see the world, and ourselves, a little more clearly.
Whether I’m architecting data solutions or imagining new worlds, I’m always searching for ways to connect creativity and logic. For me, both technology and fiction are ways of asking better questions and exploring what might come next.
Come explore with me.
